Purchase Or Rent Software? 4 Reasons Why A Purchased License Is Worth It

Planning software for modeling or cost management is one of the most important tools for architects and engineers today. The importance of these programs will continue to increase in the context of digitization.

However, many offices are faced with the question of whether to buy or lease a software license. This article uses four different criteria to describe the two versions and the advantages of render nodes & GPU workstations available in  Los Angeles.

Buying a license versus a rental license – what's behind it?

Criterion 1: Cost

Subscription licenses may be of particular interest to smaller planning offices initially, as they have access to modern, high-quality software. The initial cost is lower than the cost of the license purchased. However, in the long run, the overall costs for the company increase. They usually exceed the one-time license fee after three to five years.

Criterion 2: Useful Life

As already explained, the lease license allows the use of the software for the duration of the subscription. By hiring additional licenses, the architectural and engineering office can reduce order tops. However, after the contract period expires, the program can no longer be used. In fact, most construction projects take a very long time.

Criterion 3: Independence

The licensing fees for purchasing software are much more transparent than for subscribing. Landlords can change their pricing policy at any time. In this way, the design agency was more dependent and had less control over costs.

Criterion 3: Maintenance And Support

With the purchased license, the customer has the option to order additional maintenance contracts. Support is often included in leased licenses and software is updated regularly. In this way, the architectural and engineering firms are always at the forefront of technology, but training is often needed so employees can understand and use new features.
